In July 2011, Veolia Environmental Services was awarded a contract by Hertfordshire County Council to develop a facility that will remove recyclable material from the residual waste stream before recovering energy from the remainder and minimising its disposal to landfill.
In November 2011 we submitted an application to develop a Recycling and Energy Recovery Facility in Hatfield, for which permission was granted in October 2012.
On 28 January 2013 we were advised that the Secretary of State had decided to call in the planning application and a Public Inquiry will now be held in September 2013.
