“We have high hopes for this growing project. A lot of hard work has gone into clearing the site, and once ready to use, we are confident that the local community will be able to transform this disused space into a place where they can share ways of growing, cooking and eating food healthily”, said Nic Allan, Contracts Manager at Veolia.
Although in its early stages, local schools, the church and the health centre have already expressed an interest in taking part in the project. Veolia will be assisting with the manual building involved on site, such as the installation of a polytunnel, and the planting of soil beds for vegetables, as well as general maintenance of the site. Training for the local community to support the project will also be provided by Bromley Council’s Parks Services Team. The project will be open to all residents who would like to take part.
