The tools include an orbital sander, jigsaw, electric drill and a set of screwdrivers. They will help give2give repair and refurbish donated furniture as part of their Blue Dove Designs project. The project identifies donated items of furniture that can be improved and given a new lease of life before being sold through one of the charity’s two furniture shops or on e-bay.
give2give is the leading re-use charity in Bromley, and winner of the ‘Green Business’ Award in the Council’s annual Environmental Awards. It sells donated furniture to raise money to support residents across Bromley. Since the charity was established in 2003, it has donated more than £180,000 to local good causes and sold more than 84,000 items of re-use furniture.
Nic Allan, contract manager for Bromley, said: “We are proud to be able to support a local charity that supports the local community. In addition to the good work that give2give do, up-cycling furniture also enables good quality items to be diverted away from landfill.”
Gail Devries, CEO at give2give said: “We are delighted that Veolia Environmental Services has kindly donated tools for the Blue Dove Designs project. These will be used to enable us to repair and up-cycle furniture that will be sold in our shops in Bromley.”
