Much like Veolia, Mind is both a local and a national organisation. Mind has been campaigning for better mental health for everyone for over 60 years. They have a network of over 170 local Minds which provide a range of services to directly improve the lives of people with experience of mental distress.
Watch this video to find out more about what this partnership means to Mind and Veolia.
Mind runs a national helpline called MindinfoLine, a national legal helpline and also provides unbiased, independent information to millions of people via their website www.mind.org.uk and information publications.
We also work with the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH) in Scotland.
With our wide range of business skills across our 12,000 plus staff, as a company we feel we are well placed to ensure that Mind is in the best position to help the hundreds of thousands of people who contact them for information and support every year.
We support Mind and SAMH in their vision of creating a society that promotes and protects good mental health for all, and treats people with experience of mental distress fairly, positively and with respect.
Despite the fact that 1 in 4 people will experience mental health problems in any one year, there is unfortunately still a taboo attached to mental health problems. It is an important part of Mind’s work to challenge these taboos, to try to end discrimination and encourage everyone to accept that mental health problems are not something to be ashamed of.
Mind also shares some of our core values such as improving community spaces, creating habitats and investing in community gardening and allotments. Ecominds is dedicated to involving people with mental health problems in over 130 environmental projects that improve their mental and physical health, and the natural environment of their local communities, an admirable undertaking which we very much look forward to becoming part of.
Mind’s campaign, ‘Taking Care of Business’, is aimed at employers and employees, helping them to manage mental health in the workplace and ensure that people with mental health problems are supported, not discriminated against. Mind provides training and advice on how to manage stress and improve staff wellbeing as well as supporting individuals with mental health problems back to work.
