Veolia Environmental Services is proposing to develop a rail-linked power station on a site off Ratty’s Lane in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire.
The power station will generate electricity and heat from a combination of natural gas and Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) and/or similar residual waste. The energy from the power station will be sufficient to power around 96,000 Hertfordshire homes – the equivalent of over twice the number of homes in Broxbourne Borough today.
SRF is produced to a specification from non hazardous residual waste using mechanical and/or biological means. We refer to SRF and similar residual waste collectively as “waste fuel”. At least 90% of the waste fuel will be delivered to the site by rail and the remainder would be delivered by road.
We are consulting the local community and all those with an interest in the site on our proposal and our second phase of consultation runs from 16 April to 18 May 2012. This website will be regularly updated as part of this consultation process.
