There’s only a couple of weeks left for you to visit the stunning wildlife photography that makes up the Veolia Environnement Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition at the Natural History Museum in London.
Veolia Environnement has been sponsoring this world renowned competition and exhibition for the past 3 years and each year the exhibition welcomes over 120,000 visitors through its doors from the UK and overseas – visitors to the 2011 exhibition are up 20% on last year!
You really don’t have to be a photography enthusiast to enjoy this exhibition. The topics captured in the images are so varied – some harrowing and some just utterly captivating. But one thing links them all – they all in some way depict why we must all make an effort to protect and where possible enhance nature and biodiversity, something we strive to do across our business everyday.
We work closely with the Natural History Museum to ensure that as many people as possible get to hear about the exhibition – the museum heavily invests in promoting the exhibition and estimate that through this work they reach over 2 million people. Clearly there is a great deal of media interest when the winning images are unveiled – in 2011 the competition and exhibition was featured in over 200 separate pieces of print, online and broadcast media coverage including The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph and Time Out magazine.
If you get a chance to visit this stunning exhibition you will also see the exhibition film which shows some of the ways we protect and enhance biodiversity at our sites like our landfill site at Pitsea which is a haven for wildlife.
If you don’t get a chance to see the exhibition at the Natural History Museum before it closes on 11 March, you could also visit one of the UK regional tour locations that will be hosting the images throughout 2012 – click on the this link for details of the UK tour dates and locations: http://www.nhm.ac.uk/visit-us/whats-on/temporary-exhibitions/wpy/tourVisit.do
