Our fundraising and development activities on a national level have come on in leaps and bounds over the last couple of years and now form a major part of our community strategy.
Liaison committees
We believe that the key to maintaining community responsibility is to keep the lines of communication open. We run liaison committees where residents near our sites can meet with us to voice their concerns and receive information on our activities. Face to face, we can deal with local issues rapidly and reassure individual communities.
Veolia in the community
Across the UK, we actively encourage our employees to get involved in a wide range of local community and national initiatives.
All our employees are encouraged to take part in a half day of volunteering every year. Staff can support Mind, our Charity of the Year, their local community or a charitable organisation of their choice.
This amounts to 6,000 days of voluntary local community work.
On a regional basis, we employ communications professionals to work with schools and local groups to promote environmental awareness and action. Through waste awareness and recycling campaigns, Business in the Community challenges and highly active site visit schedules, we strive to remain visible and accessible to the communities where we work.
