Biodiversity in action - wild flowers on Veolia's landfill site in Pitsea

Veolia hosts Springwatch

BBC Springwatch team sees biodiversity in action at Veolia site!

Many of our sites are home to a wide range of plants and wildlife, and our award-winning landfill site in Pitsea is no exception!

In June 2011 Veolia played host to the BBC Springwatch team at this somewhat unconventional nature reserve. Moving away from the usual wildlife parks, Veolia invited the crew to explore the huge array of wildlife across the 680 hectare site.

The team were amazed by what they found. The site hosts more foxes per square mile then anywhere else in the UK, and these creatures weren’t shy - presenter Liz Bonnin got extremely close to some foxcubs, and the team even managed to capture some badgers on camera!

Read Shaun Taylor's blog to find out more about what the team experienced.
