Packaging compliance

The Packaging Waste regulations were the first in a series of Producer Responsibility legislation aimed at encouraging reduction, reuse and recycling.

Based on the Shared Producer Responsibility principle, the regulations encourage companies to reduce the environmental impact of the packaging they place into the UK market.

If you are an obligated company you have a legal responsibility to register with the relevant Agency and offset your packaging usage.

Alternatively you can register with a packaging compliance scheme, such as that operated by Veolia, who will take on the legal obligations imposed by the Packaging Waste legislation on your behalf, allowing you to concentrate on your core business.

From the purchase of Packaging Waste Recovery Notes (PRNs) to Consumer Information Obligations, find out more about your registration obligations here.
