Veolia pushes the envelope for the Sick Children’s Trust

Staff from Veolia Environmental Services have been ‘pushing the envelope’ in a stationery campaign to collect office supplies for The Sick Children’s Trust (SCT) in Sheffield. Pens, printer paper, envelopes, notebooks and much, much more were all donated by staff. The stationery was collected for Treetop House a ‘Home from Home’ run by The SCT for families whose children are seriously ill and being treated in Sheffield’s Children’s Hospital.

10 January 2012

The campaign asked staff to donate stationery needed by The SCT to help run the Treetop House offices.  Veolia staff collected over £100 worth of stationery, including: 80 pens, 270 envelopes and 9 rolls of sellotape – little things on their own but added together provide a valuable contribution to running the centre which relies solely on voluntary donations.

Veolia’s waste awareness officer, Kate Hughes commented: “The response to the campaign was fantastic and we are delighted to be supporting such a worthy charity.  We hope that the donation will help with the life changing work The SCT carries out every day.”

The SCT believes that having parents on hand during hospital treatment helps a child’s recovery.  They have seven ‘Homes from Home’ at six hospitals across the UK, providing accommodation for families with seriously ill children.  Treetop House in Sheffield is able to provide accommodation for 13 families at a time and helps 670 families every year.

Ann Wyatt, Treetop House manager added: “We have a great relationship with Veolia and they have always been so supportive of us in the past, coming up with unique fundraising ideas such as the stationery campaign.  We are very grateful to their continued support which will help more families in their time of need.”
