The scheme is operated by Veolia Environmental Services, Southwark Council’s recycling and waste partner. The community scheme is currently in its second year and by the end of 2012 Veolia’s EnviroGrant will have donated around £5,550 to projects across Southwark.
The next community project Veolia will be providing funds and manpower for is the creation of a sensory garden for the Whippersnappers playgroup in Dulwich Park. Once completed, the area will be fully wheelchair accessible, have a pet area, a sensory area with plants and seating and it will have a soft play surface so that children can play safely.
Other EnviroGrant projects taking place later in the year include:
- Give and take events for the East Dulwich Community Centre
- Mosaic board games for St John’s Walworth Primary School
- Building a community garden for growing vegetables, fruit, herbs and flowers for Nelson Community Garden
