The Veolia Southwark Envirogrant Scheme

Find out about projects funded through EnviroGrant in 2011 and how to apply for funding in 2012.

The Southwark EnviroGrant Scheme has been set up by Veolia ES Southwark to help local people concerned with protecting and improving their local environment with grants of up to £1000.

Veolia can also help with practical support from staff volunteers for work such as decorating, landscaping or event build.

Applications for funding in 2012 can be accepted from Monday 28 November 2011. The closing date is 31 March 2012.

Projects funded through EnviroGrant in 2011

Tower Bridge Primary School
The school will be constructing an uplifting garden to create a vibrant place for ecological learning that will be used to plant seeds and grow produce.

Residents’ Association of Povey House
The Association will be creating a wildlife corridor of ten trees. This will not only provide some concrete relief from city life for nearby residents, it will become a canopy for birds, insects and small mammals.

Delachick project
The Delawyk Residents’ Management Organisation want to establish an ongoing community based project, which will involve the creation of a chicken coop along with a chicken run, landscaping of an area and planting bushes and flowers to decorate the area.

John Donne Primary School
The project involves constructing an eco den for children. The den will be a place where they can carry out arts and crafts, work in a creative area and undertake environmental activities.

The Friary Environmental Network’s Colour Splash Project
Based at the Friary Estate the project consists of creating a biodiversity area. This will involve planting trees, flowers, plants and will also be part of a biochar experiment which aims to increase the carbon content in soil to make it more nutrient rich.

Dulwich Going Greener
A grant will be provided to promote a series of give and take events and provide PAT testing to ensure that all electrical goods that are given away at these events are safe to use.

Ruskin Park Community Compost Project
A community compost bin will be provided to allow all the residents at the Ruskin Park Estate to compost their food waste.
