Birmingham’s waste strategy reflects the national policy of viewing waste as a resource rather than rubbish. In partnership with Birmingham City Council we are working towards achieving a 40% recycling rate by 2026.
Recycling Centres
In 2005, over 50,000 tonnes of rubbish was re-used, recycled, composted or diverted from landfill.
Energy Recovery
Veolia's Energy Recovery Facility (ERF), converts 350,000 tonnes of Birmingham’s rubbish into electricity each year.
Transfer stations
Veolia operates two major waste transfer stations in Birmingham that manage the city's waste.
Community
Veolia is involved with a number of local organisations to help improve community facilities and foster good relationships.
