 Pro-Grow sprouts yet another achievement!

Staff at Veolia’s composting sites in Hampshire are celebrating the achievement of a quality mark for their highly regarded soil conditioner known as Pro-Grow. Pro-Grow has now succeeded in meeting all the requirements for PAS-100 and the composting quality protocol (CQP), which is awarded by The Composting Association and Checkmate International following a number of rigorous tests and checks. Recycling green garden waste means that landfill or other disposal methods are avoided, and that the green waste can be made in to a top-quality, environmentally sustainable product.

Veolia Environmental Services is helping to turn Hampshire green this month, supporting Ocean FM’s Green Team by taking part in a clean up in your area! Mike Apps and Jimmy Ball will be leading a keen group of people, including Veolia staff, who will visit a publicly nominated place for a green clean. Make your nominations now, then next month we could be visiting your local park, beach or street.

• Veolia Environmental Services are working with Ocean FM to clean up a place chosen by you!
• A team including the radio presenters Mike Apps and Jimmy Ball will be out and about soon
• Nominate a place near you to be cleaned up by the Green Team so that you can use it again

 Spring plants grow out of old Christmas trees

As your Christmas memories fade, spare a thought for that sparse old Christmas tree you threw away at your local recycling centre… as it could be living on in your new spring plants! In Hampshire, our three composting sites which take green garden waste are making a high quality compost from the old trees with over 3,900 tonnes of green waste delivered to the sites in January. That’s the equivalent of 195,000 Christmas trees!
