Occasionally residents bring other items to the sites which can be recycled, such as large plastic toys, garden furniture and plumbing pipe. We make preparations for additional bins to collect these items within the space we have on the site.
After residents dispose of their waste and recycling at the site, it is sent on to appropriate accepted recycling and recovery processors or for end disposal at an energy recovery facility or, if necessary, to landfill.
Our current recycling rate at the two Reuse and Recycling Centres is 60% for 2006/7.
The sites are open every day from 7am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday and Saturday from 7.30am to 4pm, then Sundays from 8am to 1pm and Bank Holidays 8am to 4pm. The sites are closed to the public on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. |
