Our street cleansing operations utilise a combination of the latest technologies in efficient and effective street cleansing equipment, alongside traditional beat sweepers with hand barrows.
With nearly 1,400 streets in the borough, we clean around 125 miles of streets each week, including some major thoroughfares, shopping areas and entertainment hotspots. The size of our challenge is clear.
In tackling this challenge, our operations are split into two geographical areas – north and south, with the boundary falling on Euston Road. This allows us to adopt a ‘village’ approach by focusing our operations on specific areas of the borough at once.
Aside from cleaning the streets, we empty all on-street litterbins, clean market areas, remove graffiti and remove fly-tips. With several parts of the borough busy at all hours of the day and night, some of our operations extend well into the night to restore those affected areas to the highest standards of cleanliness.
At Veolia Environmental Services in Camden we like to recognise the hard work and efforts put in by our staff, acknowledging the difficult work they do.
An initiative we have set up, which has been running since 2006, is the Employee of the Quarter and Employee of the Year award scheme. This is done in conjunction with council officers and is also based on positive testimonials from local residents.
Both the Employee of the Year 2007 and the Employee of the Quarter for July-September 2007 are part of the street cleansing team. Please click HERE for further information on their awards.
The Employee of the Quarter/Year scheme is being relaunched in 2008 to focus more on each employee’s contribution to raising standards of Health & Safety. This is in line with our designation of 2008 as the Year of Health & Safety. |
