In terms of population, the London Borough of Croydon is the largest of all 33 boroughs, with over 330,000 people residing within its borders. This makes it the ninth most populous local authority in England out of all 354 boroughs.
It covers an area of 33 square miles starting at Upper Norwood and Norbury in the north of the borough and travelling south taking in Thornton Heath, Selhurst, Croydon, Addiscombe, Addington and Purley, finishing down at Old Coulsdon, the most southerly point of all of Greater London.
Renowned places of interest in the borough include Addington Palace, the old Croydon Airport (now a tourist attraction) and the BRIT School of Performing Arts and Technology, which is owned by the BRIT Trust who are best known for the BRIT Awards Music Ceremony.
Veolia Environmental Services began a seven-year refuse collection, street cleansing and recycling contract in August 2003, treating 135,000 tonnes a year. We also provide a separate waste and recycling service for businesses throughout the borough, as well as having our own on-site workshops for any repairs and maintenance to our vehicles. |
