There are nearly 2,000 streets in the London Borough of Lambeth and Veolia Environmental Services has responsibility for keeping them all clean and tidy.

To rise to this challenge we combine the latest technologies in street cleansing vehicles and equipment with the thorough diligence of our teams of beat sweepers who use traditional hand barrows.

We have recently introduced new vehicles and additional staff to ensure a high standard of cleanliness in all areas of the borough is maintained.

We endeavour to sweep all residential streets on the same day that refuse is collected, while the main roads are cleaned on a 24 hours a day, seven days a week basis. We also provide a night-time cleansing service every night in the borough’s main town centres.

Our service extends to the regular emptying of on-street litterbins, gully cleaning, removal of drug paraphernalia and removal of fly-tips. 

We also have a team dedicated to cleaning the markets in the borough, who thoroughly cleanse these areas at the start of each day using a high powered water jet machine and detergent, then patrol the markets continuously during the day keeping an eye out for litter.
