All eyes will be on the London Borough of Newham over the next few years as it is one of the host boroughs of the London Olympics in 2012, with the new Olympic Stadium and Park to be situated in Stratford, which itself is a major transport hub for the area. This represents part of a massive regeneration and development project for the whole region.
The borough itself has a diverse population of approximately 250,000 across its 14 square miles.
It covers the stretch of the River Thames from Canning Town to Beckton via Silvertown and works its way north through Plaistow, Upton Park and East Ham up to Stratford, Forest Gate and Manor Park.
London City Airport is located within the borough, as is the capital’s largest conference and events centre, ExCeL, as well as The Royal Docks and the Thames Barrier Park.
Veolia Environmental Services operates landscaping and grounds maintenance services to the parks and open spaces in the borough on behalf of Newham Council. |
