Tower Hamlets Recycling

Recycling in Tower Hamlets is collected door to door in both high-rise and low-rise properties, as well as via communal bins in some high-rise properties, and the vast majority of properties in the borough have been offered the chance to participate. Residents are given either purple recycling bins or pink sacks.

The service consists of a weekly collection of mixed recyclables – paper, card, glass, cans, aerosols and plastic bottles. There is no need to separate the different materials.

Recycling also takes place from a number of bring sites throughout the borough – there are over 50 to choose from.

All the sites accept the following materials and like the doorstep collections they can all be mixed together:

  • All types of paper
  • Cardboard and card packaging (please flatten boxes)
  • Glass bottles and jars (please rinse and remove lids)
  • Food and drinks cans (please rinse)
  • Plastic bottles (please rinse and remove lids. No other types of plastic please, only bottles)

Please click HERE to access a map showing the locations of all the recycling points in the borough.
