Green waste collected from households and at Household Waste Recycling Centres is taken to a composting facility where it is broken down using various processes to produce compost. Compost puts nutrients back into the soil which help plants absorb and retain moisture. It also helps to keep the weeds at bay.
Veolia plans to build its own composting facility
in the north of the county that will handle a total of 100,000
tonnes of green waste every year.
