Sustainable growth is in our hands

These are exciting times for us at Veolia Environmental Services. For the first time we have incorporated Corporate Social Responsibility alongside financial performance within our Annual Review.

The Annual Review provides a comprehensive overview of our corporate social responsibility activities and initiatives during the past 12 months, as well as our plans for the future. This shows the measures we have taken to protect the environment and our commitment to improving the workplace, marketplace and our relationships within local communities.

Externally audited by LRQA, the Annual Review demonstrates the important step we have taken this year in shaping our CSR programme. The progress we have made reflects our desire and determination to become the industry benchmark for responsible practice - our ultimate goal.

In 2008, we donated over £4.7 million to over 200 projects, including initiatives that have helped us to engage with local communities on a social and an environmental level. Through our dedicated training centre, Campus Veolia, we’ve trained over 10,000 employees, equating to 110,000 training hours demonstrating our commitment to personal development.

Looking to the future, we intend to embed CSR even further within the core values of our organisation led by our CSR Working Group. By developing a comprehensive approach, we will capture the best of the many individual projects at a local level and set new standards in this vital area.
