Veolia Environmental Services approaches all of its Local Authority service contracts with the aim of tailoring solutions to local needs. Depending on current performance and geographical and sociological variants within different counties, Local Authorities will need to choose the most appropriate solutions from the waste management hierarchy of 'reduce, re-use and recycle.'

Working in inner city, suburban and rural areas, Veolia Environmental Services' experience in providing long-term contracts to Local Authorities has proved to be extremely successful. An example of this success has been seen in Hampshire where, in recognition of their achievements in reaching a sustainable waste management programme, the 14 borough councils were awarded Beacon Status in 2000.
