For the fourth year running, Ockendon landfill site has won a prestigious Gold Occupational Health & Safety Award from RoSPA - the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents.
David Rawlins, ROSPA Awards Manager, said ”Veolia Environmental Services has demonstrated how seriously they take Health and Safety management and are a fine example to many other companies. We would like to see more organisations following their lead.”
Ockendon landfill accepts around 750,000 tonnes of waste per annum and employs around 14 staff and contractors. Recent developments there include an innovative Leachate Treatment Plant – the first of its kind in the UK.
Ray Crossfield, the landfill manager, said, “Everyone at this site understands the importance of Health and Safety and accepts their responsibilities to themselves and their colleagues. We are delighted to have won a Gold award for the fourth consecutive year.” |
