Veolia has been operating from Pitsea for the last 100 years. During this time the local population has greatly expanded, particularly following the New Towns Act of 1946 which subsequently resulted in the establishment of Basildon, effectively linking the existing small towns.
Over this time, Veolia has made it a priority to contribute to and play a large role in, the community in which we work.
Activities include sponsoring local sports teams, supporting the Basildon & Pitsea carnival, introducing the UK’s first bottle bank in Basildon and sponsoring the annual Teddy Bears' Picnic at Wat Tyler Country Park.
Veolia shares two Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) as borders with Wat Tyler Park and prides itself on the scope and variety of projects undertaken in partnership with Basildon Council.
The site, which employs around 50 local people, benefits from investment of around £1million per annum to continually upgrade it in line with ever increasing environmental standards and changing legislative requirements. |
