For alternative fuel users The Climate Change Levy is putting pressure on the cement manufacturers to significantly increase the use of alternative fuels and reduce the amount of fossil fuels that they burn. Veolia Environmental Services' Secondary Liquid Fuel blend can replace up to 40% of fossil fuels used in cement kilns, allowing manufacturers to support the Governments Waste Strategy by recovering energy from previously unexploited waste streams.
Veolia Environmental Services Secondary Liquid Fuel As a leader in hazardous waste management, Veolia Environmental Services has anticipated the need to provide alternative disposal outlets with the expansion of its top tier COMAH, ISO 14001/9001 certified treatment facility at Norwood. The expansion of the SLF programme utilising a multiple kiln approach ensures a consistent outlet for up to 60,000 tonnes per annum of SLF. Blending hazardous liquids to produce SLF is a precise process, carefully controlled by our experienced on-site COTC qualified managers. Sampling, analysis and compatibility tests are carried out by trained Veolia Environmental Services representatives and qualified chemists.
Every step of the SLF blending procedure is strictly controlled and documented with the relevant legal paperwork and Veolia Environmental Services health, safety and quality certification. In combination with its specialist national hazardous waste collection service Veolia Environmental Services can transport, treat and dispose of a wide range of organic and solvent materials and has now developed the capacity and the infrastructure to take on a variety of additional waste streams. The SLF process ensures a safe, efficient service and peace of mind for both hazardous waste producers and alternative fuel users.
