Jean-Dominique Mallet
Chief Executive, Veolia Environmental Services
Jean-Dominique Mallet is the new CEO of Veolia Environmental Services in the UK. He was appointed to this position in June 2007 and is in addition to his responsibilities as Executive Vice-President Northern Europe and Australia. Jean-Dominique is also a member of the company's Executive Committee and still retains responsibility for the technical, Q.H.S.E. and climate change departments of the division.
Jean-Dominique is 55 years old and joined the Veolia Group in 1990. He is highly experienced in the waste management sector having moved to this division of Veolia in 1994.
Prior to his recent promotion, he supervised the company's activities in Australia, Africa, The Middle East and Southern Europe.
Jean-Dominique started his career at Continental Illinois Bank, Chicago and then B.A.I.I. Bank in Paris where he headed the Commercial Banking Department before joining the Construction Group of Compagnie Générale des Eaux.
He holds a Masters in civil engineering from ESTP, a Master of Economics from La Sorbonne and an MBA from the University of Notre Dame (USA).
Tom Spaul MSc, FinstLM, MCIWM
Managing Director, UK Operations
Tom Spaul has over 20 years experience within the waste management industry, working in both operational and sales management. This includes 16 years with the Veolia Environmental Services Group and its subsidiary companies. Previous experience includes spending 10 years with Dunlop plc in both service delivery and production. Tom has a MSc in Strategic Management, he is a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership Management, the Chairman of the Northern Regional Panel of the Veolia Environmental Trust, a Council Member of the CBI West Midlands and a member of the Environment Agency’s Regional Environment Protection Advisory Committee in the Midlands.
Paul Levett
Managing Director - Recycling, Disposal and Energy Recovery
Paul Levett was appointed Managing Director, Recycling, Disposal and Energy Recovery on 1st October 2006. Prior to the divestment of Cleanaway, Paul was Director/General Manager – Recycling, Disposal and Municipal Services (RDMS) in June 2005, having performed the role of Strategy Director since September 2004. Paul re-joined Cleanaway after being based in the USA for five years where he was President and General Manager of the CHEP businesses in Asia Pacific, Africa, Latin America and Canada.
Paul previously held the position of Executive Vice President and Global CFO of CHEP as well as having GM responsibility for the global IBC and automotive container business. From 1995 to 1999, Paul served as Finance Director for CHEP Europe. Paul joined the GKN/Brambles joint ventures via the acquisition of Redland Purle in 1980, which was subsequently renamed Cleanaway Limited. Paul moved through a number of management roles in finance and other areas before being appointed Financial Director of Cleanaway in 1990. His early career began with national Westminster Bank and Redland Industrial Services. He is FCCA qualified and completed the GKN Intensive management Development Programme.
Axel de Saint-Quentin
Chief Financial Officer, Veolia Environmental Services
Axel de Saint-Quentin is the Chief Financial Officer of Veolia Environmental Services in the United Kingdom and Northern Europe, including Scandinavia, Ireland and Germany. Previously Chief Financial Officer of Veolia Environmental Services in North America, Axel has also held several financial positions in the Energy division of Veolia Environnement in the United States and France. Prior to joining Veolia Environnement in October 1993 Axel was a senior auditor with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Paris. Axel graduated from ESC Rouen, a French business school.
Neil Butcher MA FCIPD
Human Resources Director
Neil Butcher joined Veolia Environmental Services in 2000. He has been in the Veolia Group for ten years, having previously held senior positions within the General Healthcare Group and Veolia Water. Neil is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and has an MA (Managing Human Resources) from Kingston University.
Kevin Hurst MBA
Marketing and Communications Director
Kevin Hurst joined Veolia Environmental Services in 1999 and is Director of Marketing and Communications. Kevin's previous experience includes sales and marketing management in a variety of industry sectors from retail to construction. In his current role Kevin oversees all the marketing and communications activities of Veolia Environmental Services' UK operations with responsibility for media relations, employee communications, event management, market intelligence and analysis. He is an active member of Veolia Environmental Services' Social Responsibility Strategic Committee, is the London Panel Chairman for the Veolia Environmental Trust and works with the Business Commitment to the Environment organisation as a Vice President member.
Robert Hunt MA Oxon
Legal Services Director
Robert Hunt studied Law at Pembroke College, Oxford University and trained with City firm Rowe and Maw, qualifying as a Solicitor in 1981. Subsequently he moved to City firm Herbert Smith, before joining Bristol firm Clarke Willmott and Clarke in 1985 where he specialised in Corporate Law. He was a member of the Partnership Board and head of the Commercial Department comprising some 200 staff.
In 2000, Robert decided to become an in-house lawyer and worked as acting General Counsel at Pearson Education for a year before joining Veolia Environmental Services as Group Legal Director in 2001. Robert heads the legal team at Veolia Environmental Services and is also Company Secretary of Veolia Environmental Services Plc and all other UK Veolia Environmental Services companies. Robert is a Pension Trustee and has passed the Solicitors Investment Certificate and Pension Trustee examinations, and is also a member of the Law Society.
Christophe Bellynck
Development Director
Christophe Bellynck is a Civil Engineer, having studied at Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées, one of the major engineering schools in France. Prior to joining Veolia Environmental Services in 1990 Christophe worked as a consultant on business reorganisation projects for major blue chip companies. Christophe is in charge of PPP - PFI market development and has led the negotiations of major contracts secured by Veolia Environmental Services (notably Sheffield and East Sussex).
Gavin Graveson
Managing Director, Integrated Services
Gavin Graveson is the Managing Director of all the Municipal Integrated Services contracts held by Veolia Environmental Services. Gavin has spent his working life in the waste industry, building his career from General Manager with the family business to his present role as Managing Director of Integrated Services. His responsibilities include the profit and loss of the Hampshire Integrated Waste Contract and Veolia Environmental Services in South Downs. A strong leader with considerable organisational and motivational skills, Gavin continues to build on his career in Veolia Environmental Services. Gavin was recently selected to attend the parent group, Veolia Environnement, worldwide training programme, visiting Morocco, Boston, San Francisco, China, Australia and Eastern Europe.
Keith Riley BA (OU) BSc (Eng), CEng, FIMechE, MCIWM, MioD
Managing Director, Technical Services
Keith Riley is Managing Director, Technical Services. He has wide experience in recycling and waste management, particularly working with the public sector. He is winner of the James Jackson Award 2004 from the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management. Prior to working for Veolia Environmental Services Keith was Project Management Director for Associated Energy Projects, another subsidiary of the Veolia Group. Prior to that he worked for blue chip engineering companies including the Babcock Group, Rolls Royce and what is now ABB. Keith is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, a Member of the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management and holds degrees in Engineering and Economics.
William Payne BSc
Chief Information Officer
William Payne joined Veolia Environmental Services with the 2006 acquisition of Cleanaway Ltd., where he previously held the position of Business Systems Director. A career IT professional, William has a wide range of experience delivering systems solutions to service industry organisations on both a local and global scale. William has travelled extensively with his previous company, Brambles Industries, holding IT leadership roles in North America and Australia.
David Lusher BSc, MSc, MCIWM
Commercial Services Director
David Lusher joined Veolia Environmental Services in October 2001, with 12 years experience in the waste industry working for Caird Group and Shanks Waste Services Ltd. David holds a BSc in Environmental Sciences, MSc Waste Management and holds COTC L4A. He is currently studying for an MBA at Leeds University Business School. David is also a School Governor.
