On
average each person in the UK throws away seven
times their own body weight every year. UK households
collectively produce 31 million tonnes of waste
each year. Frightening isn't it? Even more
frightening, most of what we throw away isn't rubbish
- it could be reused or recycled.
Reducing the amount of waste
your household creates not only helps to protect
the environment, but it can save you money too.
Around 20% of the food we buy from supermarkets
goes straight in the bin. That means every household
throws away the equivalent of £424 each year.
