The Sheffield (recycling) Revolution
17 June 2010
Veolia Environmental Services and Sheffield City Council are supporting national Recycle Week from Monday 21st to Sunday 27th June by celebrating Sheffield’s new, improved recycling service. The new service is currently being introduced to Stannington, Crookes, Fir Vale, Sharrow, Brincliffe and Fulwood and helps residents to recycle more materials from home. Next week, Veolia’s recycling experts will be on hand to give residents the chance to find out more, whilst entering into a free competition to win some exciting prizes - from can crushers to recycled fleeces made from plastic bottles!
Recycling Revolution Roadshows:
• Wednesday 23rd June: Firth Park Shops (10am – 3pm)
• Thursday 24th June: Broomhill Shops AND Sainsbury’s, Archer Road (both 10am – 3pm)
• Friday 25th June: Netto, Walkley (10am – 3pm)
• Saturday 26th June: Fargate, City Centre (10am – 3pm)
• Sunday 27th June: Firth Park Festival (1pm - 4pm)
Recycle Week is a double celebration for Sheffield as Veolia will be unveiling their brand new Mobile Information Unit on Fargate, Saturday 26th June. Families are invited to take a ‘tour’ of the new promotional vehicle and take part in one of the many fun activities that will be on offer to celebrate Sheffield’s ‘Recycling Revolution’.
Kate Townrow, waste awareness officer at Veolia Environmental Services in Sheffield comments: “The introduction of the new recycling service is very exciting for Sheffield and there is no better time to celebrate the scheme than during Recycle Week. We hope that residents will be able visit us at one of our events next week to learn more about the new service but if not, our Mobile Information Unit will be coming soon to an event near you!”
