Stop the rot with Sheffield’s FREE green sack service!

Approximately 20% of the average household's rubbish is made up of green garden waste. If this waste ends up in your black wheeled bin, a valuable resource that could be turned into compost is wasted. Residents can keep their gardens clean and tidy and help us to recycle garden waste by using the FREE green sack collection service operated by Sheffield City Council’s waste management company, Veolia Environmental Services.
Green sacks are for: leaves, hedge and plant clippings, twigs, small branches, prunings, grass mowings, weeds and cut flowers and are available free from many libraries and housing offices across the city. Residents must have a minimum of 3 or a maximum of 12 full green sacks to be collected.
NEW!!! Green Sacks Scheduled Collections:
If residents live in postcodes: S7, S8, S10, S11, S17 ONLY, green sack collections will take place on a scheduled collection week. Please visit: www.veolia.co.uk/sheffield or call: 0114 273 4567 to find out your collection dates.
Green Sacks Booking-in Service:
All other postcodes need to visit: www.veolia.co.uk/sheffield or call: 0114 273 4567 to arrange a collection as and when their 3 – 12 sacks are full. Green sacks will be collected within 20 working days of receipt of the request.
Please place full green sacks in a safe location at the front of your house, within your property boundary wherever possible, where they are clearly visible and accessible from the roadside.
Councillor Andrew Sanger, the Council’s Cabinet member for Climate Change said: "People right across the city told us that they wanted to be able to recycle their garden waste effectively and this service will help even more of this waste to be recycled. The green sacks have been well used since we introduced the free collections and I hope that many more people will take advantage of this service."
