| | Sheffield goes compost crazy! 9 May 2008 Veolia Environmental Services helped launch the eighth annual ‘Compost Awareness Week’ this week - an initiative aimed at encouraging people to reduce the amount of waste they send to landfill sites and to start home composting instead. Veolia’s resident composting experts were helping to spread the word in the city centre and show the residents of Sheffield just how easy it is!

| | Veolia award winners! 7 May 2008 Two employees from Veolia Environmental Services in Sheffield have won the prestigious ‘Award for Excellence’ for Outstanding Corporate Social Responsibility Activity. Waste awareness officer Kate Hodgson and Clare Froggatt, communications manager were recognised nationally at an exclusive award ceremony in Mayfair, London.

| | Rainbow Forge School learns the importance of reduce, reuse, recycle! 17 April 2008 Veolia Environmental Services’ Waste Awareness Programme has spread its wings to the outskirts of Sheffield and is now delivering weekly Recycling Sessions to Sheffield school children at Whirlow Hall Farm! This week Rainbow Forge School met with James Burgess from Veolia’s Recycling Team, who joined the children on their visit to the farm for some interactive sessions, including a range of hands-on activities which looked at the 3Rs - reduce, reuse and recycle.

| | Hi ho, hi ho, it’s tree planting Veolia go! 14 April 2008 To celebrate their 18th Anniversary in the UK, Veolia Environmental Services has helped make local communities cleaner and greener by planting eighteen trees in Tinsley Green - one tree for every year in the UK! A team of employees spent the morning planting the trees assisted by Sheffield City Council’s Community Forester for Tinsley, Androo Thornton.

Yes you can! 11 April 2008 Lovable tradesman Bob the BuilderTM visited Sheffield’s new bring bank recycling site in Darnall this week, ahead of his live appearance at Sheffield City Hall. This is the first in a number of new sites which will be introduced to the Darnall and Sharrow areas in the coming weeks, to further encourage recycling in these areas.

| | Education, education, education for Veolia staff! 8 April 2008 Thirty-one employees from Veolia Environmental Services have recently completed qualifications in waste management and recycling to increase competency and confidence at work. A range of National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) have been achieved, along with one Certificate of Technical Competence and three Certificates of Line Management!

| | Refurbished Veolia Call Centre opened in style! 1 April 2008 Veolia Environmental Services has refurbished and officially opened its Customer Call Centre in style! The transformation of the old Post Room into a comfortable customer-friendly waiting area now means the residents of Sheffield can visit the Veolia Call Centre in a more pleasant reception area and make themselves comfortable in the all new facilities.

| | Branch out and recycle at you local HWRC! 1 April 2008 A new campaign starts next week to encourage Sheffield residents to use their local Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs). Veolia Environmental Services is launching an outdoor advertising campaign across the city centre to ask residents to ‘branch out’, ‘tune in’ and ‘bring a bottle’ to their local recycling site.

| | Veolia raises £4,000 for Sheffield Children’s Hospital! 20 March 2008 Veolia Environmental Services has raised a whopping £4,000 for Sheffield Children’s Hospital, due to yet another increase in recycled materials from local residents over the Christmas and New Year period! For the third year running, the campaign re-launched in December encouraged the recycling of paper and card, glass and Christmas trees and was boosted by Veolia’s promise to donate money to the Children’s Hospital for the extra recyclable materials collected.

| | Eggstra, eggstra recycle all about it! 18 March 2008 Not sure what to do with your Easter egg packaging? Well, ‘if in doubt, check it out’ with Veolia Environmental Services! This Easter, Veolia is encouraging Sheffield residents to use their blue bin for the recycling of paper and card – including Easter egg cardboard packaging, newspapers, magazines and junk mail.

Steve Fawley joined the Veolia team in the New Year and with his passion for Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) he is ideal to run the fleet of 70 vehicles that empty the black, blue and green bins around Sheffield.

| | Sheffield recycling rate tops 25%! 6 February 2008 The figures have been counted and verified and now Veolia Environmental Services is pleased to announce an increase in the city’s recycling rate from 22.5% to 25.9%! The information taken from January – December 2007 (when compared with the same period in 2006), shows that all recycling facilities provided by Veolia, in partnership with Sheffield City Council, have increased tonnage volumes, which in turn contribute to the new figure.
