Do I have a textile
and can collection?
To find out if this service is in your
area please call 0845 355 5515 or email
us.
How does it work?
We have provided pink sacks for textiles
and clear sacks for cans. The sacks are collected
every four weeks by a local community recycling
charity.
What can I put in the
sacks?
|
Textiles |
Cans |
|
Clothes |
Food tins e.g. baked beans,
soup, peas etc.
Drink
cans e.g. cola, lemonade etc. |
|
Duvet
Covers |

|
Curtains |
Please wash out all cans before
placing them in the sack.
Where should I leave
the sacks?
Please make sure the sacks are at the kerbside
by 7am on collection day.
When will the sacks
be collected?
The majority of households are collected
on the same day as the blue bin. (Blue bin round
changes do not affect textile and cans collections
as they are collected by a separate organisation).
Please leave the sacks where the collection teams
can see them but be careful not to block the road
or pavement.
What happens to your
textiles and cans?
Your cans and textiles are collected by
Reclaim, a Sheffield-based charity who supports
people with learning disabilities, mental health
problems and others disadvantaged in the labour
market by providing training and employment.
Reclaim distribute the textiles
to charities for reuse and recycling. Steel and
metal cans are sorted, compacted and recycled for
a variety of uses. Aluminum cans are separated and
baled and sent to melting plants to be turned into
new drink cans.
Need more sacks?
Use any old pink and clear sacks you may have for
collections but from then on please use a normal
black bag and ensure that these additional sacks
are clearly labeled TEXTILES FOR RECYCLING
and CANS FOR RECYCLING. There is
no limit to the number of sacks you can leave out
for collection - in fact the more the better! |
