Following the success of last year’s pilot competition for World Environment Day, Veolia Environmental Services South Downs is hoping once again to raise awareness of the environment by running a children’s competition for all the schools in East Sussex and Brighton & Hove.

World Environment Day is commemorated each year on 5 June and is one of the principal vehicles through which the United Nations stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment and enhances political attention and action.

For this year’s competition, applicants will design a poster on adopting a ‘green’ way of life. What can you do to waste less? The closing date is Friday 4 July 2008 with winners announced, and prizes awarded on Friday 25 July 2008.

The winning posters will feature in the Kids’ Zone on the Veolia Environmental Services South Downs website. The winning school will also receive £250 and a bumper eco-goodie bag containing energy saving light bulbs, re-usable battery packs and re-usable canvas bags.
