13 August 2012

Residents are being given the challenge to ‘Give Food Some Thought’ to help reduce the amount of perfectly good food, and therefore money, wasted every day! This campaign is brought to residents by West Berkshire Council and their recycling and waste contractor, Veolia Environmental Services, who have teamed up with Newbury Market, in order to kick start their ‘Love Food, Hate Waste’ road shows for the summer! Knowledgeable food waste advisors will be handing out free food portion measuring tools throughout the market and offering guidance on how householders can cut food waste even further!

Hilary Cole, West Berkshire Executive Councillor for Environment, commented: “We are committed to helping show residents how a little thought can create delicious dinners out of leftover food, and reduce the amount of food thrown away every day.”

Mark Gray, General Manager for Veolia Environmental Services in West Berkshire said: “Our ‘Love Food, Hate Waste’ campaign aims to encourage residents to be more aware of the food thrown away and learn how to put it to a good use instead.  We can all learn how to save money from our shopping bills.”
