Resident’s garden waste bins will be collected from the kerbside on the same day as recycling, for small and cut-up pieces of Christmas trees.
West Berkshire Executive Councillor for the Environment, Hilary Cole commented; “We’re pleased that residents can enjoy the convenience of being able to recycle their old Christmas trees both at the kerbside and at the district’s recycling facilities, where a number of additional items like broken Christmas tree lights can be taken for recycling too!’
Tracey Reilly, General Manager for Veolia in West Berkshire added; “Recycling your Christmas tree means that we can turn it into a rich soil conditioner called Pro-Grow, available to buy from the district’s recycling centres, a fantastic example of closed loop recycling in West Berkshire!”
Pro-Grow soil conditioner is available to buy from Newtown Road and Padworth Lane in 30 litre bags at £3 a bag or 4 bags for £10.
