Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) offer collection points for recyclable materials in accessible locations in and around West Berkshire. They offer recycling facilities for a much wider range of materials than can be collected at the kerbside. The table below shows where the nearest HWRCs are located along with the types of recyclable waste that are collected.

Newtown Road HWRC
The opening hours effective from 16 October 2008 are: 8.30 am to 5.30 pm October to March; 8.30 am to 7.30 pm April to September; closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day. At Newtown Road HWRC you can also recycle:

- Scrap metal
- Fridges and freezers
- Car batteries
- Car Tyres
- Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (including light bulbs)
- Fluorescent tubes
- Household batteries
- Reusable bric-a-brac
- Wood
- Shoes
- Aluminium foil
- Books, CDs, DVDs
- Soil & rubble
- Household chemicals
At Newtown Road you can also dispose of Gas Bottles, General Residual Household Waste and Asbestos (see the section below).
Height Restriction at Newtown Road
Height barriers are installed at Newtown Road, which prevent vehicles over 2 metres (6 foot 7 inches) tall from using the site. This will discourage the disposal of trade waste, resulting in a quicker more efficient site for West Berkshire residents.
Asbestos
Householders may only dispose of small quantities of hard bonded asbestos at the site for a charge of £25, payment is requested by cheque, payable to West Berkshire District Council. Asbestos will only be accepted at the following times: Mondays-Fridays, 9 am to 12 noon, 1 pm to 3 pm or Saturdays 9 am to 12 noon. Householders wishing to dispose of large quantities of asbestos will need to organise private disposal and should check telephone directories or Yellow Pages for details of local waste management companies.
Pinchington Lane HWRC
The Pinchington Lane HWRC is now closed. Please use the Newtown Road HWRC instead. Information about the site and a directional map can be found above.
Paices Hill HWRC
This site is permanently closed due to continuing vandalism, which threatened the safety of site users and staff.
